The old saying ‘Nomen est Omen‘ (in English: ‘The Name Says It All’) is definitely applicable in case of the newly launched fashion house from Budapest: La Maison d’Elysian. Founded during summer 2012, this brand new maison de la mode already makes a big noise in Hungarian fashion circles. Its first winter collection was presented to a select few in early October in a very unique setting of Brody House.
The La Maison d’Elysian winter collection is divine, elegant, very feminine, classical but first and foremost it is absolutely timeless. The white deer featured in the brand logo associates exactly with the type of women La Maison d’Elysian designs for: graceful, gentle, charming, ethereal, free with a touch of fragility. The Elysian lady is a traveller, she is curious and open to the world, she likes to discover new things. Clear cuts, playful decorations & accessories, elegant colors and very feminine silhouettes characterize the collection. Following quote by writer Dia Reeves was the muse for the winter collection:
“She was like, the moon – part of her was always hidden away.”
The collection offers a complete wardrobe: elegant daytime wear and stunning evening gowns. The Elysian debut collection consists of skirts, pants, overalls, knee-length and maxi dresses, leather jackets and winter coats.
La Maison d’Elysian is a childhood dream coming true for the founders: Boglarka Bodis and Emese Gajer. Boglarka has already made a name for herself in the fashion industry, as her underwear creation won first prize at the Triumph Inspiration Award during Fashion Week Berlin in 2011. The commercial version of her Les Fleur du Mal creation hit the Triumph stores in September 2012 and is available worldwide to purchase. Emese Gajer – co-founder of La Maison d’Elysian – studied communication and PR. However, it was her great-grandfather who Emese was inspired by, as he used to be a tailor to the upper class with several famous Hungarian actors, singers and other high ranking gents on his client list. The two founders met during their recent Fashion Design postgraduate studies at the University of Szeged.
A debut that probably all designers dream about. La Maison d’Elysian has definitely laid the benchmark extremely high. Quite honestly, I do not know what to expect from their next collection, however I am absolutely positive that we won’t be disappointed. For now, let’s just enjoy the beauty of their current pieces.
