Today I would like to introduce you to a young fashion brand, INDIVIN founded by Zsofia Horvath in 2010, after finishing her studies at the ModArt School of Art and Fashion in Budapest. Her current spring & summer mini collection is truly unique, rich in tiny – but work-intensive – details and is a perfect eye-candy to dream about warmer and sunny days. Zsofia’s brand, INDIVIN is specialized in small, limited edition dresses: from her previous collections I loved the Spring / Summer 2012 the most as it was a very exciting and colorful eye-catcher. However, I must admit that every one of her collections is very special, totally not mainstream – and Zsofia has just started.
This season, INDIVIN pieces come in tone-in-tone or mono-colors, are characterized by simple cuts, elegant & feminine silhouettes and small exclusive details, such as hand-sawn pearls motives or sophisticated cutouts. The underlying inspiration for SS13 was a mixture of the old Hungarian blue-dying spirit (blue & white) and characteristic folk motives, and on the other hand the usage of organza textures and high quality materials such as satin, silk, tuft, and thin wool. Zsofia enjoys experimenting with geometric shapes and always finds a way to add a unique, eye-catching detail to every piece. At the end, current collection reflects only a tiny bit of where Zsofia actually took her inspiration from, however the final result is always the outcome of a long personal journey affected by external influences as well as own interpretations and ideas.
Zsofia has also incorporated her current personal passion into the collection, namely white embroidery or motif on white color, that is indeed very elegant, sophisticated and reserved at the same time. When we imagine white on white, sooner or later we think of the ‘albino effect’ and it is indeed the theme of INDIVIN’s SS13 campaign, whereby models wear light, minimal make up and whitish hair that results in a more dedicated focus on the collection itself.
Besides mini collection series, the Budapest based INDIVIN team also designs exclusive, made-to-order pieces for clients, who appreciate individual dresses handmade in Hungary at affordable prices. To develop and extend her young brand, as a next step Zsofia envisions a more casual line and plus-size pieces to complement her current fabulous designs.
I very much like the unexpected details, mix of fresh, ‘happy‘ colors and materials throughout the current and previous INDIVIN collections. I think it is an excellent approach by the young designer to experiment and pick only a handful pieces – created with special care and attention to detail – to be part of the final collection, following the motto “quality rather than quantity”. This young, emerging brand is definitely on my ‘watch list’, and I think its individual, tasteful and colorful style will appeal to a broader, international audience.
