Wearable Art On Finest Silk

Leona Lengyel, the London based Hungarian artist and designer, managed to successfully combine two of her major passions: painting and fashion. Born into a family of jewelers, she had been a creative mind herself for as long as she can remember and always loved spending time creating and making different things. Today, Leona is the proud owner of the Léna Silk brand that stands for luxury hand painted silk scarves featuring her own artworks.

After graduation from the Fashion School of Szeged (South Hungary), Leona decided to gain as much experience as possible in the world of fashion and moved to London. Working as a visual merchandiser and style advisor at well known fashion companies such as United Colors of Benetton, Intimissi or at the Liberty London department store gave her invaluable insights into the fashion industry. At the same time, Leona further pursued her artistic skills and eventually found the way to combine painting and fashion by transforming her artworks into wearable fashion accessories.

The first silk scarf creations of a given collection are always hand painted and further pieces are digitally reproduced on luxurious fine silk materials such as silk satin, silk chiffon, silk crepe de Chine. Leona’s scarf creations are brightly colorful and they will even spice up the most conservative, modest outfit as well as they are the perfect countermeasure as a mood-enhancer to fight the occasional gray weather of the city. Given the designer’s Hungarian roots, Leona has dedicated a permanent collection of silk scarves embellished exclusively with Hungarian inspired motives. Pieces in this collection are always painted solely by hand.

Leona’s creations have already been discovered and featured by the British Vogue, Marie Claire, Tatler, and InStyle magazines and her brand has been handpicked for exhibition at the prestigious Pure London and Fashions Finest London Fashions Week Show events in the United Kingdom. Beside the seasonal wearable artistic pieces, Leona’s original oil and acrylic artworks on canvas can also be purchased.

Suggestive color extravaganza at first glance, these beautiful artistic silk accessories can definitely be show-stoppers – no matter if worn on a regular working day or for a special occasion. Leona’s sense of passion, motivation, positive attitude and above all the fun factor, how the young designer is building her brand from scratch, is simply contagious. She makes everything look so easy and seamless from the outside, although it is the result of years of hard work, determination and constant devotion. If you happen to visit the London Fashion Week mid February 2014, make sure to pay a visit to Leona to see her AW2014/2015 collection.
